Transfer Molded Rubber

Transfer molding is the process where a single loading of uncured rubber material is transferred from one general chamber area (or "pot") into multiple component cavities via small feed gate channels. This process allows for large numbers of parts to be formed in a single process cycle with minimal labor. Robinson Rubber Products can custom formulate rubber to meet your specifications, design and build the transfer mold, and supply you with your custom transfer molded rubber components in volumes from prototype through production. Call 1 (763) 535-6737 to speak to one of our qualified experts, or fill out our Molded Rubber Component Design Specification Checklist.

Transfer Process

1. A piece of uncured rubber material is placed into a portion of the mold called the "pot". The press plunger fits tightly into the "pot" to seal up the pot and create transferring force on the rubber material.

2. The mold is closed under massive hydraulic pressure and the rubber material is forced through small holes called gates into the cavity. The mold is held closed while the rubber cures.

3. Once the rubber is cured, the press plunger is raised up and the "transfer pad" of rubber material is removed from the "pot" and thrown away.

4. The mold is opened and the part is removed from the cavity. The flash and the gatesare trimmed from the part.

Robinson Rubber Products designs, develops and manufactures custom transfer molded rubber components, extruded profiles and precision rollers for original equipment manufacturers and industrial companies globally. Please call us or contact us for more information on Transfer Rubber Molding.
